Taka Makassar

A sandbar shaped like the number nine that only exists at low tide.

The stop

Taka Makassar

Taka Makassar is barely an island at all — a small curved cluster of fine white sand that rises out of the water only when the tide recedes, curled into a shape close to the number nine.

The water around it is shallow and clear. Swimming, photographs and a short snorkel are the whole of it, and the timing is set entirely by the tide.
